Prominent Hill produces one of the highest grades of copper concentrate in the world. Located 650 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia, Prominent Hill is part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations, and is located on the traditional lands of the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara people. We currently have a role available for a Control Room Specialist within the Prominent Hill Maintenance and Engineering team. As a Control Room Specialist, you will be safely operating and optimising across Hoisting operations on a shift-by-shift basis to achieve safety and production targets.You will be working collaboratively in the Control Operations team, together with other Control Operations Specialists, Production, Maintenance, Technology and Technical teams to continuously improve performance. Your work will contribute to optimal production, equipment performance and availability, as well as improving reliability and ensuring that we are well placed for future growth within the mine.
Please note this position is based at Prominent Hill on a FIFO from Adelaide or Port Augusta, operating initially on an 8/6 roster arrangement.
In this role you will:
- Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
- Monitor and analyse process data to make informed decisions that deliver safe stable production
- Proactively communicate with a range of stakeholders to influence and guide maintenance and production teams in a time constrained environment
- Establish collaborative working relationships within the Control Operations team and other departments to maximise performance between areas
- Ensure effective exchange of information at shift changeover
- Embrace a process safety methodology for the operation of the assets through the review and development of processes and procedures
- Demonstrate the ability to make timely decisions and work calmly in high pressure situations
- Develop skills in Plant Operation across multiple areas
- Utilise SAP, Khronos, PI and ShiftLog to maintain business performance
- Contribute to and support the Shift Supervisor’s decisions and communicate these to team members
- Champion the Prominent Hill Vision and Purpose and align with our core behaviours and operating system
About you
- Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
- Experience using control systems including or similar to CITECT / SCADA, and OSI PI
- Work collaboratively and proactively communicate across multiple levels and disciplines
- Ability to interpret critical information and make decisions
- Enthusiastic to learn new skills and accept challenges
- Previous Control Room experience working within Hoisting or materials handling operations will be highly regarded, but not essential
- Good computer literacy with the ability to use SAP and Khronos or similar monitoring system
- Ability to confidently make decisions relating to your work, or escalate if needed
- Adaptable and responsive to change, as well as learning new information
