About the role

We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest for the role of a Conveyor Inspections/Mechanical Technician within the Port Operations Mechanical Conveyor Maintenance Team. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Port Operations Mechanical Supervisor and will be highly motivated, eager to develop and enjoy working in an inclusive team environment.

 Key responsibilites: 

  • Complete allocated maintenance tasks as per the daily and weekly plan.
  • Follow documented maintenance procedures and instructions.
  • Operate workshop and mobile equipment.
  • Perform Scraper rebuilds, inspections & maintenance, along with scraper/plough troubleshooting
  • Carry out scraper/plough installations and change outs during unscheduled equipment break downs
  • Complete Conveyor and Roller inspections of balance machines, car dumpers and all other conveyor systems across the entire plant plus executing Shutdown preparations. From time to time
  • Undertake housekeeping and always maintaining a clean safe work environment
  • Participate in safe start and other operational meetings as required.
  • Undertake training as required to gain new skills.
  • Assist in upskilling other personnel when required.
  • Take personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of competence without being supervised.
  • Work with computer systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, 1SAP and FIORI desirable
  • Maintain a high level of consistency in all parts of the role.
  • Meet KPIs set by the leadership team

 

 

About You
 

As a successful candidate you will ideally possess the following:

 

  • Mechanical Trade Qualified
  • A strong focus on operating discipline in line with BOS practices.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and produce quality results at all times
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be adaptable and accepting to change and still produce quality workmanship
  • Ability to recognize patterns in problems and to apply robust problem-solving techniques.
  • Demonstrate technical aptitude and/or logical reasoning driving resulting actions or decisions.
  • Good understanding of quality control and the implications regarding the operation of an automated process.
  • Ability to identify, report and rectify workplace hazards.
  • Task focused with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient or fast learner in 1SAP and Microsoft suite.
  • Processing or conveyor maintenance experience along with knowledge of conveyor systems components highly desirable.
  • Previous experience leading or coordinating teams will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and ensuring all work practices are reflective of our Charter Values.
  • Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor appointment is desirable but not necessary.
