Our Operations

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on an 8:6 roster pattern arrangement with FIFO from Adelaide, DIDO or residential options available. A 5:2, 4:3 roster can be negotiated if required.

About the Role

As the Coordinator Mine Services Projects, you will play an integral part in supporting the Underground Mine Services Execution team specialising in the construction & maintenance of critical mine infrastructure including services, ventilation & barricades.

Each day is varied with new challenges in the role covering but not limited to contract management, water management evaluation for stope designs, oversee pump maintenance activities and continuous improvement and system optimisation coordination. Overseeing the pump maintenance for Mine Services will see you provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to the Pump Maintenance team consisting of three direct reports to you.

For the right applicant, this role will provide opportunity for supporting the Mine Services and Services Execution Superintendents and providing coverage when or as required.

In this role you will:

  • Be first & foremost focused on creating a culture of care, being a visible safety leader, engaging & supporting the Mine Services team, customers, and stakeholders, including providing coaching and mentoring to Mine Services Engineers.
  • Oversee compliance with operating standards, procedures, work instructions & defined processes to achieve optimal outcomes in Pump Maintenance.
  • Identify & implement improvement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness with support from Mine Services Engineers and Capital Projects teams.
  • Initiate and participate in Management of Change and RRRAs as required for department projects.
  • Support Mine Services Leadership in managing risk portfolio and understanding risk appetite.
  • Contribute to department contract management activities.
  • Contribute to 5 Year Plan Budget preparation and submission including updates to quarterly Forecasts.
  • Build cross-functional relationships with the Operational sub-functions to support the delivery of production through assessing water management plans for stope designs using Deswik.MDM.

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Your success will be heavily influenced by your strong communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, coupled with your ability to identify and raise issues, find solutions in complex situations, and decision-making abilities.
  • 5+ years (preferably in underground mining) with a tertiary engineering qualification, or 10+ years with relevant practical underground mining experience.
  • You will have demonstrated underground mining experience and understanding of the mining cycle and services networks.
  • Previous supervisory, project and/or contract management experience will be well regarded.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite, SAP, Deswik.CAD & MDM, production reporting databases and platforms will be advantageous.
