About the Role


Reporting to the Signals Supervisor, the Signals Coordinator will be responsible for the following;


  • Management, escalation and resolution of safety and environmental events
  • Currently hold or have the ability to obtain a Responsible Person appointment, you are required to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Rail Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Setting a leading example of step up behavior, by developing staff, managing risk, problem solving and achieving results
  • Building the team by using people's strengths and experience, sharing information and encouraging different points of view
  • Conducting engaging team meetings, creating an environment where it safe to speak-up
  • Analysing equipment failure trends and recommending replacement of signals equipment and / or components
  • Assist with planning of signals maintenance and support work 
  • Ensuring work and maintenance on the signals systems are conducted in accordance with BHPBIO policy, procedures and standards
  • Respond to signals failures on the BHP Billiton rail network
  • Preparing, updating and reviewing signals documents and procedures


About You


To be successful is this role it is preffered you posses the following;


  • Minimum of C class manual driver’s licence
  • Demonstrated ability to plan work, allocate resources and monitor progress
  • Ability to engage, communicate and collaborate with other work groups
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and proactively solving them
  • Proven understanding of SAP Work Management & Inventory Supply Chain processes
  • A class electrical license is preferred but not essential
  • Cert4 in Railway signaling is preferred but not essential



You will be based at Port Hedland on a fly-in fly-out 8:6 roster.  Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.   The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
