About the Role

The Geophysics and Geochemistry Team is seeking a Data Analyst to join our Geochemistry QA/QC and Data Processing team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a specialist technical group responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and delivery of critical geochemical and grade control data that supports mining and production decisions.

Working alongside geoscientists, mine geologists, and technical specialists, you will play a key role in monitoring sampling quality, validating data, troubleshooting data issues, and supporting the delivery of reliable grade control information. The role provides exposure to geochemistry, geophysics, data management, quality assurance, and operational geology while developing a strong understanding of mining production processes.

Reporting to the Superintendent Geophysics and Geochemistry, you will work with a highly experienced team to ensure accurate, timely, and auditable geoscience data is delivered to support site operations.

As a key member of the Geophysics and Geochemistry Team, you will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating a strong commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.
  • Delivering accurate and timely grade control data through the monitoring and validation of geochemical models and data workflows.
  • Ensuring the efficient and reliable flow of geoscience data between geology, mining, and operational stakeholders.
  • Managing grade control systems and ensuring all data is validated, auditable, traceable, and integrated with downstream systems.
  • Monitoring and improving Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes throughout the sampling, analysis, and data delivery workflow.
  • Investigating data quality issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitoring sampling performance and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across grade control processes.
  • Building strong working relationships with Mine Geology, Mine Planning, Geoscience Operations, Technology teams, and external service providers.
  • Supporting the ongoing improvement of sampling practices, data quality controls, and grade control capabilities through training, mentoring, and process optimisation.
  • Assisting with reporting, data analysis, and performance monitoring to support operational decision-making.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A degree in Geoscience, Geology, Geochemistry, Geophysics, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in mine geology, geoscience, grade control, laboratory QA/QC, resource geology or a related mining discipline.
  • A solid understanding of sampling methodologies, QA/QC principles, and data quality management practices.
  • Experience working with grade control, geological database, resource modelling, or related geoscience systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve data quality issues.
  • Basic skills in data analysis and reporting, including experience with Power BI or similar visualisation tools.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL for querying and validating datasets.
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or similar environments would be advantageous.
  • Experience using Python or similar tools for data validation, automation, or reporting.
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to build productive relationships with technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across geology, operations, technology, and external service providers.
