Newman Operations – FIFO or Residential 


  
With this role you have the choice of either being residentially based in Newman or fly-in fly-out on an 8/6 7/7 roster. 

You will be working across both sites at Newman Operations. Newman Operations West is more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide, making it the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. Newman Operations East is made up of several deposits and contributes to the overall ore production of the Newman Joint Venture hub.

About the Role

 

 

Newman Operations Dewatering are currently seeking an experienced pump technician to work with our site maintenance team to carry out the Inspection and preventative maintenance of pumping systems and pipelines.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Carry out scheduled service and inspections of down hole bore installations, pump stations, water treatment plants, pipelines, and fittings – produce detailed service reports.
  • Preventative maintenance, fault finding and repairs.
  • Commissioning pumping equipment.  
  • Calibrate instruments – flow meters, pressure transmitters, level transducers.
  • Ensure systems are installed and set up as per the quality checklist.
  • Perform water sampling, validation, and verification for water license compliance.
  • Set and adjust pumping flow rates.
  • Demonstrate compliance with BHP policies and procedures
  • Implement, adhere and work to improve the current safety processes at BHP.

 

 


About You

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will require the following;

 

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Trade qualified or experience in maintaining water treatment / water transfer systems
  • Current West Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Demonstrated OH&S Awareness
  • A background in water transfer systems and preventative maintenance
  • Experience in on-site water analysis
  • A grade Electrical licence or Restricted license advantageous
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • SAP knowledge advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Basic pump and plumbing knowledge
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Proven ability to priorities competing requirements and adapt to change
