We are seeking Expressions of Interest for Mine Planning Principal Technical Engineer in the WAIO RE Mine Planning Integration Team. The Mine Planning Engineer role in WAIO spans across multiple functions assisting in the technical delivery of the Mid-term plan in Strategic Mine Planning. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career skills, interacting directly with the Mine Planning team and stakeholders across many functions including: Business Planning, Land Access & Approvals, Environment, Heritage, Major projects, Asset Projects, Directional Studies, Geoscience, Production Scheduling and Resource Engineering
The role will be reporting to the Superintendent Integration Mine Planning. Success in this role requires a high level of technical mine planning skills, the ability to provide the business with options and contingencies, problem solving, data validation skills, creative thinking, and in-depth knowledge and experience in our systems, particularly Alastri. This is an opportunity to improve the technical process, coach team members, and work within the Resource Engineering team growing your management skills and significantly impact the culture and productivity of our teams, and quality of our deliverables.
Mine Planning Work Plan - About the Role:
Key accountabilities will include:
- Guide Mine Planning in Alastri practices and coaching,
- Guide Mine Planning in Blasor practices and coaching,
- Consolidate & review input parameters,
- Consolidate & review mine planning outputs,
- Identify potential issues and escalation scenarios,
- Troubleshoot technical issues and answer technical queries for stakeholders,
- Answer strategic questions through data evaluation,
- Assess impacts of changes and uncertainty in mine plans and escalate when required, and
- Capture improvement ideas and feed into continuous improvement pipeline
About You:
To be successful in this role you will be an experienced professional with strong mine planning technical skills and a desire to deliver meaningful and impactful work. You are team oriented and result focused with a demonstrated track record of working with others to achieve right outcomes. In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:
- Experience in Medium term planning process and ideal LoA planning,
- Strong Alastri skills (+4 yrs),
- Blasor (+3yrs),
- Influencing managing relationships, managing change, and appetite to grow these skills further,
- Articulate and summarise Mine Planning outcomes and key messages to multiple stakeholders,
- Identify ways to reduce complexity and remove low-value work,
- Strong data examination and problem-solving skills,
- Ability to communicate effectively.
