About BHP

We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people looking to start or continue their career in mining to Think Big with BHP.  At BHP we support our people to grow, learn, develop their skills and reach their potential. Indigenous Peoples are critical partners and stakeholders in many of BHP operations both within Australia and around the world. Many of our operations are located on or near lands traditionally owned by or under the customary use of Indigenous Peoples and the long-term nature of our operations allows us to establish long lasting relationships with these Indigenous communities.

About The Role

Working within the Healthy Environment goal team within Group Sustainability and Social Value, you will support the delivery of environmental, sustainability and social value outcomes that contribute to healthy country, responsible stewardship, and strong ESG performance.

The role focuses on enabling social and environmental performance through governance, data, reporting, assurance‑ready documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration. You will work closely with sustainability, environment, and social performance practitioners to support compliance, transparency, and continuous improvement across operations.

This role does not deliver social investment or community funding initiatives. Instead, it supports the systems, standards, and ways of working that underpin strong environmental and social performance.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their career to build practical experience in sustainability, ESG and social value within a complex operating environment.

About You

You’re early in your career and motivated by contributing to sustainability outcomes, environmental stewardship, and positive social value. You’re comfortable working with data, frameworks and processes, and you enjoy supporting delivery through strong organisation, attention to detail and collaboration.

You’re keen to build hands‑on experience in sustainability and ESG, and you bring a practical, curious mindset and a willingness to learn. You communicate clearly, manage competing priorities well, and are motivated by contributing to responsible, sustainable business outcomes.

You’re interested in developing experience across:

  • Environmental and sustainability performance support
  • Social value and social performance (excluding social investment delivery)
  • ESG data, reporting and disclosure
  • Governance, assurance and continuous improvement
  • Supporting healthy country outcomes through strong systems and partnerships

You bring:

  • A strong interest in sustainability, environment, social performance or ESG
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with data and documentation
  • A proactive, collaborative and learning‑focused mindset
