Our Operations - Olympic Dam
One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.
Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 day/night roster pattern arrangement with residential, FIFO (from Adelaide) or DIDO options available.
About the Role
We currently have a role available for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to join our Mine Electrical Fixed Plant Maintenance department. In this role you will be responsible for executing planned and unplanned maintenance activities on fixed plant within a mining environment. Your work will contribute to optimal production, equipment performance and availability, as well as improving reliability and ensuring that we are well placed for future growth within mining operations. You will be trained on the BHP Operating System (BOS), as well as contribute to the company’s focus on standardised work.
In this role you will:
- Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
- Carry out unplanned and planned routine maintenance, inspections and checks to Surface/Underground electrical equipment and instrumentation
- Assist in resolution of E&I issues affecting equipment performance and availability
- Review and update maintenance schedule plans and equipment history
- Provide E&I trade skills to perform care maintenance tasks within the electrical maintenance area, to ensure overall reliability and stability
- Develop and revise operating and maintenance procedures
- Communicate plant status to appropriate departments
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping in all work areas
About You
- Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
- Australian recognised Electrical Trade qualification (essential)
- Australian recognised Instrumentation Trade qualification (essential)
- South Australian A-class Electrical Workers license (or ability to obtain)
- Experience working in a similar role with exposure to Fixed Plant (preferred)
- Instrumentation experience (essential)
- Ability to work autonomously, or as part of a team
- Ability to confidently make decisions relating to your work, or escalate if needed
- Adaptable and responsive to change, as well as learning new information
