About Potash

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon.  BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.

Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for mid-2027. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Work Location

This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The work schedule for this role will be Mon-Thurs, 10 hour working hours per day, 40 hours per week transitioning to 7on/7off 12 hours per day at a future determined date.

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to support the Electrical Maintenance Superintendent with the daily planning of activities to ensure the safe achievement of department KPI targets.  Activities should be coordinated across shifts and other departments to create maximum value to Jansen.

 

The successful candidate will coordinate maintenance activities based on production & maintenance planning schedules and coordinate activities to ensure shift transitions are smooth and flawless.

About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Willingly embed yourself into BHP’s Operating System, culture and ways of working.
  • Ensure all safe work systems, procedures and standards are adhered to through frequent inspection of the workplace.
  • Assist in resolution of electrical / mechanical issues affecting equipment performance and availability
  • Review and update maintenance schedule plans and equipment history
  • Develop and revise maintenance procedures to continuously improve and standardize maintenance processes.
  • Interface with the area Planner to ensure all operations work is prioritised and scheduled with a focus to improve planning.
  • Liaise with Superintendent and Supervisors regarding daily activities and priorities.
  • Utilise knowledge and experience to solve problems and ensure department targets are being met.
  • Assist writing relevant quality documents, switching plans, isolation lists and risk assessments and conducting regular reviews/audits.
  • Interact with internal customers and suppliers to optimise plant performance.
  • Drive cost saving initiatives and undertake improvement projects with in the department.
  • Champion the Management of Change process within the maintenance department.
  • Ensure consistency with handover between shift supervisors when crews change.
  • Influence and mentor others in HSEC principles and behaviors
  • Participate in projects as directed by department superintendent

About You

  • Electrical Engineering or Trade Experience relevant to the field is essential.
  • Previous exposure in a mining and processing environment.
  • Desire to progress team effectiveness and efficiency within the department
  • Ability to confidently make decisions relating to your work, or escalate if needed
  • Adaptable and responsive to change, as well as learning new information
  • Self motivated and self-imposed standards of excellence rather than standards imposed by others.
  • Sound computer literacy with competency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
