About the Role

Located 472 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia, Carrapateena is part of our Minerals Australia operations, within the Copper South Australia province. The mine is located on the traditional land of the Kokatha people. Carrapateena produces copper concentrate and is one of the largest mining projects in South Australia in the last decade.
Please note this position is based at Carrapateena on a FIFO (from Adelaide) basis, operating on either a 4/3 OR 8/6/4/3 roster pattern arrangement.
We currently have a role available for an Electrical Specialist – Mine Services to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for scoping and implementing electrical and technology projects within an operational underground mining environment. Your work will contribute to optimal production, equipment performance and availability, as well as improving reliability and ensuring that we are well placed for future growth within our operations.
In this role you will:
- Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
- Support the implementation of Underground (UG) Infrastructure and Operational Technology projects
- Complete scoping of underground electrical projects and assist the engineering team with drafting work instructions for the electrical crew in alignment with AS3000
- Assist with procurement of infrastructure and consumables to align with new projects
- Update and finalise red line drawings working with electrical engineer to submit with doc control
- Have a pro-active field leadership presence ensuring appropriate controls are applied to all hazards and material risks present in each work area, through workplace inspections and critical control verification
- Effectively ensure daily and weekly planning and coordination of multiple teams to execute various projects and deliver on schedule milestones
- Attend daily mining meetings and effectively communicate across compliance to schedule, interactions, priorities, milestones, risks and opportunities
About You
- Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
- Australian recognised Electrical Trade qualifications (essential)
- South Australian A-class Electrical Workers license (or ability to obtain)
- Several years’ experience working as an electrical tradesperson within a heavy industrial, mining resources or minerals processing environment
- Experience in design and installation of LV electrical reticulation circuits
- Exposure to underground mining environments (preferred but not essential)
- Problem solving and can-do attitude
- Proven capability to lead with a proactive, results-oriented and solution focused approach
- Ability to assess risks and identify opportunities for improvement
- Intermediate level of computer literacy (MS Office Suite of programs)
- Valid Australian manual drivers’ licence
