About the Role

BHP’s US$3.6 billion South Flank is a greenfield mine and brownfield processing centre created adjacent to and within the Mining Area C operation. Located approximately 130km north-west of Newman, South Flank together with Mining Area C will become one of the largest iron ore hubs in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore. South Flank will help to maximise the volume and quality of BHP’s iron ore production, which is essential for the world’s steel.

We are seeking a Fixed Plant Maintenance Supervisor to lead the electrical team to ensure maintenance activities on the plant, equipment and utilities under accountability are safely executed against schedules, plans, and specified standards and consistently deliver on its planned maintenance targets.


The role is to also develop a continuous improvement culture and ensure all ore handling plant and associated equipment is maintained by the team utilising the 1SAP framework.  Supporting the Standardised work process will be a key accountability with this role.

This role will be offered on a permanent basis, working on a 2:1 roster (1 week days, 1 week nights and 1 week off) FIFO from Perth.  In addition, other benefits include generous allowances, outstanding facilities, and an attractive share save scheme, annual salary reviews and a short-term incentive bonus.

About You

You will be a self-reliant contributor with distinctive proficiency in executing and supervising maintenance activities.  You will possess detailed knowledge of activities related to operating and maintaining mining equipment.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Trade qualification in Electrical Fitting
  • A minimum of 2 years Supervisory experience with an additional 5 years Fixed Plant Maintenance experience on large scale mineral processing plant is essential
  • C class manual driver’s licence 
  • High Voltage Switching qualification is desirable, however not essential
  • A proven track record of safety management of statutory electrical requirements
  • Working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement
