Located approximately 160km north of Port Augusta on the traditional lands of the Kokatha people.  Carrapateena combines cutting‑edge mining methods with a strong focus on safety, innovation and performance.

About the Role

 

The Carrapateena Team is accountable for delivering value at the Asset in the short, medium and long term, against the needs of all stakeholders. With an immediate and core focus on delivery production outcomes, they have a secondary focus on leading the expansion of the mine by transitioning from a Sub Level Cave to a Block Cave – this will extend the Carrapateena mine life beyond 2039. At Carrapateena, we create a safe to fail environment where leaders support, trust and empower individuals to test our own thinking and question the status quo.

 

Our goal is to deliver each business plan and project milestone safely and on time with value creation at the heart of how we operate.

 

This role is responsible for inputs and executing the weekly mine plan, encompassing development and vertical development (raisebore) physicals, while maintaining safety performance and cost compliance to budget.

 

It is expected that you will drive continuous improvements in safety and production, including processes, systems and operational projects, all essential for the operational readiness phase of the block cave and associated projects.

 

 

 

Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (30-minute flight from Port Augusta / 60-minute flight from Adelaide)

Roster: 8 days, 6 days off; we have flights daily to site from Adelaide or 3x per week from Port Augusta

 

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Liaise with underground crews to ensure that new ideas are developed and practically implemented and build cross-team relationships;
  • Data reporting and analysis;
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity and operational performance;
  • Monitor day to day mining operations against agreed plans and quality control standards;
  • Provide inputs to Planning & Technical teams on execution plans, designs, schedules and forecasts;
  • Scope, create and implement site instructions as required; and
  • Support continuous improvement and site-based projects.

 

About You

 

You will have the following skills and experience:

 

  • Experience in underground mining, specific experience in BC or SLC experience highly regarded
  • Experience in mine design, scheduling, and development activities.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
  • Completed UG experience (minimum two years) is essential.
  • Ability to interact successfully with multiple internal stakeholders.
  • Experience in contract administration highly regarded
  • Project management experience highly regarded.
  • Strong time management and problem solving skills are key
  • Experience with mine planning software (Deswik preferred)
