Location
This role can be offered on a 5:2 4:3 FIFO roster or based in our Perth office on a flexible hybrid 5:2 roster.
About the Role
Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) Engineering is one integrated group managing the capital portfolio, executing projects and providing Governance and Technical Stewardship (GTS) for Operations across the Iron Ore Business. Rail Engineering GTS is one of the groups in the Engineering team providing these supports to various Rail Departments.
You will provide technical support, guide and assist with solutions in the Railroad department specialising in the field of Radio Communications and Transmission systems, including but not limited to the following:
- Governance of the Rail Communications blueprint, standards and technology across a broad range of areas
- Support firmware upgrade and software update programs of work for all communications network elements and equipment
- Ensure engineering solutions identified to address reliability issues reduce system faults and are commissioned without unplanned safety and business impacts
- Ensure project-engineering designs are meet the design standards and are the right solution for the business.
- Support Reliability Engineering in system lifecycle strategies for the communications and asset monitoring networks
- Support and adhere to the 1SAP (Systems Applications and Products) Work Management Process
- Provide technical input into Mines, Technology, Integrated Operations and Business Planning projects to support business capability improvements while ensuring associated risks are managed for Rail.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a background in the following:
- A Tertiary qualification in Communications or Electronics Engineering preferred however not essential, significant industry experience will also be highly regarded
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills within the Radio Communication and Transmission systems
- Experience in a Railway Operational environment would be preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills to will foster collaborative working relationships across all our stakeholder groups and the broader Technology Engineering team
- Driving safety and productivity improvements through the intelligent application of technology to our current and future mining processes Rail network
