The purpose of the Reliability Electrical Engineer is to provide electrical engineering capability & support to manage and optimise assets and processes to ensure Safe, Sustainable and Reliable performance on site. This is to be compliant with regulations and BHP’s policies, procedures and standards.

Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off
Department: Engineering & Maintenance

In this role you will:

 

  • Member of a team focussed on continually improving the performance and capability of the Carrapateena fixed plant, through application of engineering principles and timely decision making. This includes effective delivery of Engineering projects, activities and tasks.
  • Ensure any engineering design is safe, effective and reliable for the business needs.
  • Support Maintenance Execution with their assets.
  • Identify and control material risks for electrical assets
  • Actively collaborate within the team to harness the multi-discipline skills available.  Skill and knowledge sharing are paramount for success.
  • Deliver innovative improvement opportunities to exceed current performance (safety, cost, throughput or quality).
  • Management and coordination of external service providers or consultants where required.
  • Comply with standard department business processes and communicate these effectively.
  • Ensure all work is planned and scheduled to agreed levels of efficiency.
  • Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement business process.  Ensure opportunities have been evaluated and prioritised before executing the improvement project.
  • Seek opportunities to improve tools, practices, development of the people and processes.  Advocate for the initiation of the improvement lifecycle in solving challenges.
  • Ensure improvements are implemented in a safe, effective and financially responsible manner.

 

About You:

  • IEAust recognised electrical engineering degree.
  • Safety orientated with sound OH&S knowledge and specific statutory obligations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills using multiple data sources and established methodologies.
  • Experience in risk management incl. material risk.
  • Demonstrated experience in operational site electrical & instrumentation engineering.
  • Ability to provide sound, timely and pragmatic technical direction to site teams.
  • Experience delivering CAPEX and OPEX engineering projects and plant upgrades in a brownfields environment.
  • Experience using CMMS, EAM, ERP solutions (SAP preferred).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Asset Management principles and their application.
