About the Role

Reporting to the Lead Engineer Reliability Mechanical, you will play a key role in supporting the site maintenance function to achieve reliability and maintenance excellence at our Olympic Dam Operation.

We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer (Mechanical) with a driven commitment to safe work practices and a proactive approach to improving equipment reliability.

This role supports the Mine End Fixed Plant which includes both underground and surface equipment at one of the world’s most significant deposits of copper, gold and uranium.

This position is based in Olympic Dam and can be offered on a 5/2, 4/3 FIFO roster from Adelaide or 5/2 residential at Roxby Downs.

 

In this role you will:

  • Engage in safety leadership activities and discussions to promote safe systems of work across both underground and surface areas
  • Facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) investigations to identify failure causes of underground and surface equipment, identify actions for improvement and support with implementation
  • Develop and optimise maintenance strategies for equipment using Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) principles
  • Provide mechanical engineering and problem-solving support to Maintenance teams during breakdowns, shutdowns and modifications
  • Review condition monitoring results and implement actions in a timely manner to mitigate failures
  • Monitor and analyse failure and delay data to identify equipment performance and improvement initiatives
  • Identify and implement continuous reliability and maintainability improvements and work towards defect elimination
  • Identify and implement safety and cost improvement initiatives
  • Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments and management of change

 

About You

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up in the event of unsafe behaviours
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or relevant trade experience, with broad exposure to mechanical plant and equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in reliability engineering, including defect elimination techniques and conducting Root Cause Analysis investigations
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to a team of professionals to deliver against targets
  • Open to new challenges and experiences, highly engaged and committed to building mutually beneficial relationships across teams
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving and project management skills
  • Experience in mining strongly preferred, with underground mine experience favoured
  • Experience with CMMS/EAM systems
