About the Role
Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 rotating roster, with residential, FIFO (from Adelaide) or DIDO options available.
We are currently inviting applications for an Operations Technician, Surface – Mine Fixed Plant. In this position you will help minimize the impact to unplanned downtime on the mine surface materials handling system consisting of belt conveyors, transfer chutes, ore handling bins and feeders. Integral to this role will also be planned surface material handling system running checks, cleaning up system spillage and maintaining good plant housekeeping.
This can be and often is an entry level role to our mine, requiring a fit and physical candidates who best suits hand on roles as this role plays a pivotal role working around our Mechanical Fixed Plant Fitters and other hands-on technicians. We will consider candidates who demonstrate transferrable skills and attributes to suit the hands on in the elements environment, which is this role, allowing you to tell us why you suit this role/opportunity.
In this role you will:
- Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
- Ensure all safe work systems, procedures and standards are adhered to through frequent inspection of the workplace
- Promote and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
- Provide safe operational skills to perform unplanned or breakdown maintenance in accordance to current processes
- Complete inspections of materials handling systems and belts
- Assist where required in the permit to work system, including helping update documents relating to specific tasks.
- Provide continual feedback to the Shift Maintenance Supervisors on job progress
About You
- Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm's way
- Self-motivated, driven and focused on achieving high performance targets whilst always prioritizing safety first
- Sound mechanical aptitude will be highly beneficial
- FL and Bobcat, Excavator, Loader, riggers, dogging and crane ticket advantageous, but not essential
- Comfortable working in an underground mining environment and around heavy machinery
- Ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines
- Highly fit and physical, enjoying a hands on role in a fast-paced environment
- Level 2 Authorised Isolator, Job and Area Owner qualified highly beneficial
