About the Role

 

We currently have an opportunity to join our Health, Safety and Environment team as an Environment Specialilst at Saraji Mine Site in the Bowen Basin.

 

The Environment Specialist provides subject matter expertise into the design and establishment of environment standards, procedures and systems while facilitates and supports line management for environmental risk assessments, event investigation, field leadership and compliance. You will utilise your excellent relationship building and people skills to deliver a wide range of environmental services and initiatives.

 

This role is offered on a residential 5:2 roster (in Dysart) reporting directly to the HSE Superintendent. Flexible work options will be considered.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Implement and ensure compliance to licence conditions, monitoring programs, management plans and work management strategies;
  • Interface with local Regulators regarding site environmental performance;
  • Interact and consult with operational teams to provide technical environmental advice and support;
  • Assist with the management of mine site rehabilitation;
  • Manage environmental data and associated databases; Execute environmental disturbance permitting
  • Perform data validation of all environmental monitoring data for inclusion in internal and external reports;
  • Monitor and report on various environmental aspects; and,
  • Manage third-party contracts

About You

 

You will be able to work both independently and as part of a team.  Attention to detail will be a vital attribute, along with strong business acumen and the ability to build consultative and influential relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

 

You will also have:

 

  • Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering (or similar)
  • Previous on-site experience within the resources industry (preferred)
  • Experience in addressing legislative environmental requirements (preferred)
  • Sound GIS capabilities will also be highly regarded.
  • A current Australian Drivers Licence
