About the Role

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for environmental professionals to join the new South Australia (SA) Copper Asset HSE team as an Environment Technician.

 

Reporting to the Environment Operations Superintendent, the Environment Technician is responsible for carrying out the practical field work components of the Environment Management System. Assists with data entry, quality assurance and reporting. Engages and supports line management for environment risk assessments, site inspections, event investigation, field leadership and compliance

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Undertake remote and local field work to collect environmental monitoring data such as weed mapping and spraying, local aquifer and GAB water monitoring, flora and fauna monitoring and feral animal management.
  • Undertake assigned tasks in accordance with 1SAP Work Management process
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Participate in workplace investigations as required.
  • Maintain strong working relationship with relevant external and internal stakeholders to achieve required environmental outcomes.

 

 

Roster

 
We are seeking to fill roles within BHPs new and exciting South Australian Copper Asset at Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill.

 

FIFO rosters (7/7) will be available across all sites, as well as residential roles for Olympic Dam. Flexible work options will be considered.

Locations

 

Roxby Downs is located about 560 kilometres north of Adelaide (about 1 hr flight to the Olympic Dam Airport). With a population of 4,500 Roxby Downs offer a community lifestyle with all the necessities you wish such as school, pool, art gallery, cinema, community library, community centre, sports club etc.

The Olympic Dam mine is a large poly-metallic underground mine located in South Australia, 550 km NNW of Adelaide. It is the fourth largest copper deposit and the largest known single deposit of uranium in the world
 
The Prominent Hill mine is a major copper, silver, and gold mine in northwest South Australia, 130 km south-east of Coober Pedy and 130km north-west of Olympic Dam.

About You

 

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Adhere to and demonstrate BHP Charter Values.
  • Experience or qualification in Environmental subject is desirable 
  • Experience in collecting and reporting environmental monitoring and performance data.
  • You will be able to work as part of a team but also be comfortable working autonomously when required and make informed decisions. 
  • You will be motivated by a fast paced environment and the opportunity to problem solve and drive positive change.
  • 4WD capabilities or willingness to learn
