About the Role
As a Field Hydrogeologist at BHP, you will be responsible for the technical supervision and execution of hydrogeological drilling programs across WAIO. You will liaise with multiple stakeholders including drill crews, program designers, and operations supervisors to ensure technical outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality.
Responsibilities within the Role
- Conduct groundwater investigations, including hydrogeological drilling supervision, bore construction, aquifer testing, and sampling.
- Logging of hydrogeological drill holes to an exceptionally high standard, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all holes.
- Deliver high quality technical reports and demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret hydrogeological data, monitoring groundwater, and surface water interactions.
- A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways that our processes can be improved.
- Adherence to BHP health, safety and environment procedures whilst mentoring, coaching, and promoting positive field leadership behaviours.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on bore design, installation, and execution.
About You
- Degree in Geology or a related discipline, with post graduate qualifications in hydrogeology advantageous.
- Extensive hands-on expertise in groundwater exploration and hydrogeological studies.
- Experience supervising external contractors, particularly water well drilling contractors.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Thrives on building relationships with stakeholders across technical and operational teams.
