About the Role:

 

This role will establish and lead a team to ensure that a range of accounting and reporting activities are performed in a timely, accurate and effective manner for BHP’s Minerals Australia companies in regions covering as driving an inclusive culture in the team and supporting continuous process improvement.

 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Leading a team that is accountable for certain key finance processes across the Group including fixed asset management, payroll accounting, sundry payables, receivables and other accounting facet
  • Lead the team and/or participate in annual audit processes, working closely with engaged auditors for relevant entities and processes
  • Lead the team and/or participate in the annual stewardship review process for relevant entities and processes
  • Policies, Group Level Documents, SOX, and Core Controls
  • Lead the review of account reconciliations, briefing papers, stewardship schedules & accounting matters for presentation to senior management
  • Liaise with key stakeholders and providing assistance with various issues, queries and requests and provides financial insights to Senior Leadership Team
  • Confidently present ideas, results, and recommendations to stakeholders at varying levels
  • Manage and guide team members to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, assets, functions) to support strategic decision-making

 

About You:

 

  • Preferably with internationally recognised qualifications in Accounting or Finance including accounting body certification (CA / ACCA / CPA / CIMA etc.)
  • Prior experience working with a large corporate or professional environment
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting and overall financial stewardship & governance
  • Solid base in financial and managerial accounting gained from experience in public accounting or corporate financial reporting or controller roles
  • Experience in people management and leading large teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills, stakeholder engagement and ability to work autonomously and deliver as needed
  • Experience in managing and delivering a broad scope of Finance / Accounting & Reporting related activity
  • Prior experience managing transition of work activity or international assignments would be highly regarded
  • Experience with SAP preferred
