About the Role

 

Reporting to the Superintendent Fixed Plant Maintenance – Electrical, you will lead and supervise our front-line Electrical team to execute planned maintenance ensuring reliability and integrity of our assets.

 

 

This role will be residentially based in Newman, on a Lifestyle roster which consists of both day and night shift

 

 

You will coach and mentor employees, drive a strong safety culture and ensure safe systems of work are in place for all activities. 

As a Statutory S26 Appointed Person, you will ensure full compliance with the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022

 

You will play a key role in the development, communication, and execution of the Electrical Equipment Maintenance plan, while continuously seeking to identify opportunities for improvement and quality outcomes

 

  • Responsibility for a team of HV Electricians

  • Maintain a safe work environment for your team in your areas of responsibility. Area inspections are a crucial part of the role.

  • Adhere to specific maintenance processes as outlined in the BHP procedures

  • Work effectively with other maintenance and production teams.

  • Facilitate and complete “Whole of Job Function”, which includes pre work, preparation of JHA’s and/or Work Instructions, as well as organising materials.

  • Ensure that all documentation and data entry is accurately completed including Electronic Logbook entries

  • Prioritise efforts to reduce breakdown duration and assist with plant availability

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping utilising the 5S standard.

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Programs that result in higher levels of plant and equipment performance and availability.

  • Maintain a high-level working knowledge of BHP procedures and safety processes.

 

 

About You

You will have experience with the operation and maintenance of fixed plant. A key strength is your ability to communicate effectively, ensuring the development of team members through relationship management skills. You will be a proactive, credible, and influential member of the leadership team whilst building trusted, collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.

 

Our successful candidate will need to be suitably qualified to manage all aspects of the department’s deliverables and supervisor core routines.

 

Experience, skills and qualifications required include:

 

  • Experience in leading in the fixed plant electrical space

  • Australia recognised trade qualification

  • WA “A grade” Electrical Licence

  • Unrestricted C class driving licence

  • 1SAP, planning and work management experience an advantage

  • Strong safety leadership and safety event management experience desirable

  • Positive and motivated people leader with a focus on culture and team diversity
