About the opportunity

BHP is currently offering Maintenance Traineeships at our BHP FutureFit Academy - Mackay, a purpose-built center designed to fast track your learning journey. We are offering Traineeships in Fixed Plant Maintenance. Upon graduation from this program, you will be eligible to then continue your employment with BHP and move into a Maintenance role on site. 

Our Traineeships will provide you with exciting opportunities including:

Learning about the equipment that processes the mined material and produces the end product. Some examples of fixed plant equipment you would encounter are Conveyors, Crushers, Apron Feeders and Rock Breakers.
Performing a variety of tasks such as; inspections, basic maintenance on equipment and assist Tradespeople with rebuilds and repairs. Watch this video to learn more.

Participating in a mixture of classroom and theory learning, as well as practical workshop training. You will learn to interpret mechanical drawings, the basics of hydraulics and about the variety of tools we use to maintain these machines.
Training which is undertaken at our training academy in Mackay. While training you will be working a roster of 7 Days / 7 Off / 7 Nights / 7 Off, day shift hours are 6am to 4:30pm and night shift hours are 1:30pm to 12:00am. 
  

About you

We are seeking applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds. As this program contains fast-tracked learning, you will need to commit to attendance, be adaptable to your working roster and live local to the FutureFit Academy.

To be eligible for this role, you will be required to:

• Relocate to Mackay if necessary. Transport or accommodation is not provided by BHP for these positions. You will also be required to live within a maximum of 1 hours driving distance to the Academy.
• Be highly commitment to safety.
• Have an interest in problem solving and working on the tools.
• Be motivated to learn new skills and knowledge, whilst enjoying a mixture of classroom and hands-on learning.
• Have prior experience working on machinery/vehicles as a job or personal hobby (highly regarded, but not mandatory).
• Complete a range of background checks to determine suitability including police / criminal history checks, medical, drug and alcohol testing, due diligence checks, right to work checks, and/or reference checks.
