About Infrastructure and Services



Infrastructure and Services have a fundamental responsibility to assure and maintain the supporting infrastructure which is crucial to our operational mine sites within the Bowen Basin. I&S are accountable for the effective operation of BMA owned Villages, Logistics (including bussing & aviation), Water Treatment and a pipeline network which spans from the McKenzie River to as far north as Eungella.

 

The Governance and Technical stewardship (G&TS) team form part of a wider Engineering team which sole function is to deliver complaint small sustaining capital projects to safely assure assets across I&S. The I&S Engineering office is in Central Queensland (approximately 2 hours east of Mackay) at the Central Queensland Office (CQO) situated adjacent to the Peak Downs coal mine.

About the Role



Reporting to the Superintendent of Governance and Technical Stewardship, you will be responsible for providing specialist Structural and Civil Engineering technical expertise to the operation. This will involve providing engineering support to the wider I&S and ensuring a robust risk and benefit-based assessment process is followed for engineering applications.

 

This role is based at CQO on Monday to Friday basis with exceptional flexibility, with flexible residential or commute options available.

 

In this role you will:

 

• Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader

• Be the material risk critical control owner for the relative selected risks in your area of discipline.

• Utilise engineering reports to identify structural remediation requirements.

• Partner with Structural Engineers to develop engineered remediation solutions.

• Engage Operational stakeholders to ensure the remediation solutions are clearly defined and analysed for minimal disturbance to Production.

• Provide technical engineering expertise to ensure solutions meet safety and design standards.

• Support the planning, safe execution, and commissioning of Asset Integrity Remediation packages according to agreed scope, budget, schedule, and relevant standards and specifications.

• Provide input to the reporting requirements for the execution of Asset Integrity Remediation work packages.

• Ensure projects are successfully executed by working corroboratively to determine the appropriate Execution Strategy in conjunction with the Maintenance, Production and Project teams, manage risks, complying with requirements and maximising safety & constructability through design.

• Apply technical knowledge to develop quality inspection task instructions based on BMA Buildings and Structures Standards and other relevant risk-based documentation.

• Conduct subject matter expert field verifications in accordance with the Structural Integrity preventative maintenance inspections.

• Adherence to BHP Charter Values, Leadership Model and Code of Business Conduct.

About You



• Degree qualifications in civil / structural engineering disciplines

• Understanding of mining, processing, heavy industry or construction projects, with experience working with Structural / Steel and Concrete advantageous

• Effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration and problem-solving abilities

• Organisational skills for managing a functional teams, contractors and multiple tasks simultaneously

• Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen with problem solving skills

• Communication and influencing skills, including the ability to produce concise reports and presentations to senior managers
