BHP Operations Services delivers industry leading mining services across BHP operations Australia-wide with specialist capabilities in load and haul, fixed plant maintenance and mobile maintenance.

We are now looking for an experienced leader to join our team as the General Manager – OS Maintenance West, where you will be leading the Maintenance West Department focused on the coordination and safe execution of maintenance activities (including shutdowns) to enable optimised performance and equipment availability across our mines.  

 

Reporting to the Vice President Operations Services, you will work with a range of internal stakeholders to build relationships through effective communication and consultation, whilst shaping the culture to ensure a safe, productive, quality, sustainable and disciplined approach to executing the work. 

 

You’ll lead our dynamic fixed‑plant maintenance workforce and key delivery partners, driving performance across Belts Maintenance, Conveyors Maintenance, Port Operations, as well as the coordination and successful delivery of major shutdowns.

 

In this role you will be based in Perth, WA with frequent travel throughout the operations. 

About you

 

We’re seeking an experienced maintenance leader with a proven ability to shape and execute high‑performance maintenance strategies. You’ll bring deep expertise in managing broad and complex asset portfolios, confidently coordinating across diverse internal and external stakeholders. 

 

With a background in the resources sector (or a similar heavy‑industry environment), you have a strong track record of designing, implementing, and delivering maintenance strategies that drive measurable results. You have successfully led complex shutdown cycles—on time and on budget—while relentlessly lifting performance through smarter systems, streamlined processes, and improved ways of working.

 

By nature, you are inquisitive and a problem solver who embraces adaptive challenges to find workable and innovative solutions and can build relationships with an array of stakeholders to achieve objectives.  Your communication, listening and influencing skills will all be strengths, along with your ability to priorities work to meet various, and sometimes competing, deliverables.

 

Your leadership is grounded in genuine care and transparency, engaging with frontline teams to build strong connections and foster a culture of trust. Safety leadership is at your core—you value nothing more than the wellbeing of the workforce.  With a proven track record in leading diverse teams, you are passionate about building capability through coaching and mentoring, making a tangible difference to people and performance.
