About the Role


PTE Geoscience is accountable for creating long-term value for Coal through discovery and geo-scientific understanding of mineral inventory; brownfield exploration; creation and maintenance of medium and long-term plans and technical stewardship.

The role, whilst having input the strategy of the function, focuses on the execution of Coal strategy, planning and data acquisition by ensuring the provision of timely, fit-for-purpose, well communicated, geological data and processing, interpretation, technical evaluations, reporting, and Coal quality testing and sample management for Coal exploration and mine planning, project development, and mine operations.


You will also be responsible for:

 

  • Providing exploration plan, appraisal and technical evaluation to obtain adequate level of resource definition
  • Delivery of fit for purpose geological data, processing and interpretation to increase resource knowledge 
  • Identify and manage resource risks on operating mines and undeveloped tenements to an acceptable level
  • Provide support to mine site to meet productivity/cost targets

Key requirements include:

 

  • BSc. in Geology
  • 5+ years Mine Geologist and/or exploration experience (coal experience highly regarded)
  • Experience with exploration planning and project management of exploration programmes including exposure to exploration regulatory frameworks in Queensland
  • Experience with geological databases and the interpretation and technical evaluation of geological datasets
  • Exposure to resource range analysis and/or resource estimation processes 
  • Vulcan geological modelling exposure highly regarded as the ability to interrogate geological models is a key component of role
  • Proficiency in Arc GIS and spatial mapping platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the Bowen Basin Coal Deposits would be highly regarded as would deep knowledge of coal deposit genesis theories and understanding of coal beneficiation process and laboratory analysis for coal quality and washability characterisation



You will also have strong problem solving and negotiation skills; attention to detail with a curious mindset; ability to plan and execute work independently; ability to turn data into technical information and communicate to other areas of the business; ability to communicate appropriately to all levels of hierarchy within the business; capacity for independent decision making. 

Location: Brisbane with ad hoc site travel.
