About the Role
This is an exceptional opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer who can play an active role as part of the Mine Planning team at Olympic Dam Mine.
You will play a key role in providing geotechnical input in stope designs, ground support assessments and designs, QAQC of ground support and geotechnical monitoring and ultimately enabling safe execution of mine plans.
This role can be offered as residential or FIFO on a 8 days on, 6 days off roster (other rosters may be considered)
The critical tasks for the role include:

Geotechnical design recommendations

Day-to-day underground inspections and ground support recommendations

Preliminary stope stability assessments and stope performance reviews

QA/QC applications on ground-support installations

Geotechnical hazard management through critical control verifications and monthly audits
About You
-
Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related discipline

Experience in underground mining geotechnical roles

Minimum C class Driver’s Licence

Previous exposure to rock mass characterisation through empirical analysis, numerical modelling, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring methods (preferable but not essential)

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and reporting skills

A proactive, safety-first mindset and ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to self-manage your workload and determine priorities

A drive for continuous improvement and positive change

Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
