An exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join the Carrapateena Team to support the operation by continued geotechnical data collection and design, modelling and planning.

Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off

In This Role You Will:

  • Ensure quality control & assurance (QAQC) of ground support systems are maintained and effective. 
  • Support the operation by continued geotechnical data collection and interpretation for update of geotechnical\structural models, major infrastructure design, ground control planning and long-term development\production plans.
  • Management of geotechnical monitoring databases. 
  • High priority geotechnical tasks including, but not limited to, cave, seismicity, ground control and inrush management. 
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive value-add projects.
  • Consistent communications to key stakeholders with respect to geotechnical hazard management. 
  • Design & execute instrumentation programs to aid geotechnical hazard management. 
  • Other geotechnical role functions as required.

About You

  • Geotechnical Engineering experience in an underground metalliferous mine. Sub-level or block caving experience highly regarded.
  • Undergraduate qualifications in either geotechnical engineering, mining engineering, civil engineering or earth sciences (geology, geophysics).
  • Implementation of geotechnical processes and systems.
  • QAQC of ground support systems.
  • Practical experience with geotechnical mapping, monitoring systems, ground support calculations / designs and stability analysis.
  • Establishing and/or maintaining aspects of a geotechnical management system.
  • Collection & interpretation of geotechnical observations and geological data (structure).
  • Experience using mining\geotechnical software (Deswik, MxRap, IMS suite, Leapfrog).
