There is currently an opportunity to join our Safety, Health and Hygiene team for a 12-month fixed term period working with BMA at our Caval Ridge Mine operations.


About the role:

  • Provide technical expertise in injury prevention, injury management, fitness for work, rehabilitation and return to work processes, including the development of suitable duties plans and associated documents
  • Provide support for regulatory health surveillance (legislative medical and Pre-Employment medical) activities and reporting
  • Support the Hygiene specialist with hygiene projects and programs, e.g. dust, noise, vibration, other hazardous agents including exceedance investigations, hearing and respiratory fit testing
  • Complete behavioural-based Field Leadership observations, offering support and technical guidance to positively influence our culture of care
  • Maintain health enterprise systems (e.g. Cority), medicals and data integrity
  • Support site medical service e.g. Paramedics/Nurses, EAP, Physiotherapy, Appointed Medical Advisers and occupational physician.

About You


What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related / science discipline with APHRA or ESSA or similarly related registration e.g. OHS, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, registered nurse, psychology, human movements, ergonomics, human factors.
  • Ideally have experience working in a large complex environment within mining or heavy industry
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to effectively engage varied levels of stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Working knowledge of Queensland workers’ compensation process
  • Knowledge of QLD coal mining health and safety legislation
  • Personal resilience to act as the key point of point of contact for site health and hygiene matters in a fast-paced environment.
