About the role:


We currently have several opportunities to join our Health, Safety, Security and Emergency Management (HSS) BMA (BHP Mitsubishi-Alliance) team.

 

Reporting to the Superintendent, in this role, you will:

  • Provide technical expertise in injury prevention, injury management, fitness for work, rehabilitation and return to work processes, including the development of suitable duties plans and associated documents.
  • Provide support for regulatory health surveillance (legislative medical and Pre-Employment medical) activities and reporting. 
  • Support the Hygiene specialist with hygiene projects and programs, e.g. dust, noise, vibration, other hazardous agents including exceedance investigations, hearing and respiratory fit testing. 
  • Complete behavioural-based Field Leadership observations, offering support and technical guidance to positively influence our culture of care. 
  • Maintain health enterprise systems (e.g. Cority), medicals and data integrity.
  • Support site medical service e.g. Paramedics/Nurses, EAP, Physiotherapy, Appointed Medical Advisers and occupational physician. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related / science discipline with APHRA or ESSA or similarly related registration e.g. OHS, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Registered nurse, Psychology, Human Movements, Ergonomics, Human Factors.
  • Ideally have experience working in a large complex environment within mining or heavy industry. 
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to effectively engage varied levels of stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Working knowledge of Queensland workers’ compensation process.  
  • Knowledge of QLD coal mining health and safety legislation.
  • Personal resilience to act as the key point of point of contact for site health and hygiene matters in a fast-paced environment.
