About the IROC

 

BHP’s Integrated Remote Operations Centre (IROC) is a state-of-the-art control operations facility encompassing our coal asset operations located across Central Queensland. This world-class control centre makes a significant contribution to ensuring our Coal operations continue to improve performance in a sustainable way by coordinating the near-term scheduling, planning, and controlling of our coal assets from the Brisbane CBD.

Our purpose is to provide Integrated Innovation to the Coal Value Chain, with our team heavily involved in the deployment of automation and machine learning technologies to transition our business into a sustainable future.

About the Role

 

Reporting to the General Manager IROC+, the IROC+ Control Execution Manager is a dynamic multi-disciplined role accountable for a team of 200+ controllers, supporting our 9 coal assets in Mine, Plant and Port control along with engineering support teams in both Fleet Management and Process Engineering. Working closely with site production managers, you will facilitate smooth operation of the value chain from pit to port; ensuring safe delivery of site aligned KPIs and improvements in truck productivity, quality compliance and plant efficiency.

 

With deployment of automated haulage (AH) in full swing at two of our operations, you will also support your site-based AH control teams from operational readiness through to delivery of the automation value case. This includes both Frontrunner and Command systems.

 

This is a Brisbane based position.

 

In this role you will:

  • Positively shape and maintain the IROC+ culture, ensuring a strong focus on safety, performance, and inclusivity,
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with site stakeholders, including travelling to our operations as required,
  • Ensure the systems and processes are in place to support BMA’s value chain performance against short, medium and long-term plans,
  • Leverage a broad functional support organisation to deliver a high reliability operational control environment,
  • Lead the deployment of improvement initiatives centrally to uplift operational performance,
  • Reinforce BHP Operating System (BOS) as the way of working that drives planned business impact by role modelling BOS principles.

About You

 

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • A strong ability to influence internal and external stakeholders in a complex environment,
  • Proven ability to motivate, engage and coach large teams towards achieving safety, diversity and inclusion and productivity goals,
  • Leadership experience in Mining and/or Plant operations, with experience in autonomous operations advantageous,
  • A collaborative, data driven approach to driving performance improvement,
  • A clear bias towards commercial optimisation and value creation at all points in the value chain.
