About the role
The BHP Coal IROC (Integrated Remote Operations Centre) is located in the Brisbane CBD and is seeking a live machinery condition monitoring specialist. As a remote operations Maintenance 1 (M1) Controller you will be optimising our mining fleet across our central Queensland mining operations. This role involves performing maintenance troubleshooting remotely to diagnose and rectify faults on mining equipment at our BHP Coal operations. As part of the Mine Control team, you will work together with our onsite maintenance and operations teams and liaise with other IROC controllers to optimise performance at our operations.
You will work in an environment which is dynamic and striving to continuously improve performance, and with this, you will be involved in continuous improvement projects to help us become even better!
In this role you will:
• Analyse sensor and alarm data from mining machinery to make informed decisions that prevent unplanned machinery downtime.
• Respond to maintenance warnings and faults from our mobile fleet to provide real-time diagnosis and recommendations.
• Address queries from operators to efficiently manage and minimise unplanned downtime.
• Proactively communicate with a range of stakeholders to influence and guide maintenance and production teams in a time constrained environment.
• Optimise operational practices to improve equipment condition and reliability.
• Develop and foster positive relationships with our site operations, including travel to our mine sites.
• Collaborate across IROC, MCOE and site maintenance teams to implement improvement initiatives.
• Be part of our cutting-edge Asset Health program, utilising and improving analytical tools to enable greater fleet reliability.
• Work in in the heart of the Brisbane CBD on a 7/7 roster, rotating day & night 12.5-hour shift roster.
As part of a team of M1 Controllers you will be responsible to work with our site-based maintenance and mining teams to safely increase mining equipment reliability.
This will involve monitoring equipment and maintenance performance, applying defined processes and identifying abnormal equipment condition within shift. Your role is to liaise with production and maintenance teams to prioritise issues and have equipment condition restored safely. This work will test your ability to learn the agreed work processes and use maintenance monitoring systems effectively and apply these skills. We will be looking for your ability to both work within the shift to optimise performance, and to think more broadly to identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.
About you
The successful candidate will display the key capabilities of a successful M1 controller – a commitment to personal and team safety, calm disposition under pressure, an enthusiasm to learn, initiative and a drive for performance.
• A mechanical or electrical trade, engineering degree or demonstrated experience with machinery fault diagnosis are highly regarded.
• You are a motivated individual who can use their relationship building and negotiation skills to influence others and achieve desired outcomes.
• Have a proven track record of applying work processes in a disciplined way to deliver results and respond to changes accordingly.
• Have the capacity and ability to work 12.5hr rostered shift work patterns involving nightshift and weekend work, and travel to site if necessary.
• You will exhibit strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems.
• Ability to analyse, drive performance, collaborate and influence.
• Experience using Fleet Management Systems (Minestar, Modular, Frontrunner), Asset Monitoring systems (Minecare, GE APM, OSI Pi) and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (SAP) are highly desirable.
• You can work in fast paced environments with tight deadlines.
