About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Copper SA Health team as an Injury Management Specialist on a 12-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Health Superintendent, you will play a critical role in supporting injured workers and facilitating safe, timely and sustainable return to work outcomes.
Working closely with employees, health providers and operational leaders, you’ll coordinate early intervention strategies, case management, rehabilitation planning and recovery support, while ensuring compliance with BHP standards and Self-Insurer legislative requirements.
Your accountabilities will include:
- Lead end-to-end injury management and rehabilitation case coordination across work-related and non-work-related injuries or illnesses.
- Liaise with medical providers, injured workers, line leaders, HR and insurers to develop, implement and monitor return to work plans.
- Deliver early intervention and workplace-based recovery strategies to minimise impact and support positive health outcomes.
- Ensure all case management practices comply with WorkCover Self-Insurer standards and relevant legislation.
- Provide guidance and support to leaders on reasonable workplace adjustments, injury classification and redeployment options.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting and data management systems to support performance and compliance.
- Support internal training and awareness initiatives on injury prevention, recovery at work and return to work processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of health and injury management systems, documentation and procedures.
About You
This role will suit a motivated, organised and empathetic injury management professional with a passion for supporting people through recovery and a focus on safe work design. You will also enjoy building collaborative relationships and navigating complex cases with professionalism and care.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- An overriding commitment to BHP’s Charter Values.
- Tertiary qualifications in Nursing or Allied Health Services such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or similar health/rehabilitation-related field.
- Previous experience coordinating injury management or return to work programs, ideally in a self-insured or industrial environment.
- Sound knowledge of injury management legislation, WorkCover Self-Insurer requirements, and workplace rehabilitation standards.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational and time management capabilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- RTW Coordinator accreditation (SA) or equivalent.
