About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to sit at the centre of BHP’s Digital sub-function - helping connect strategy to execution and enabling a high-performing, integrated Digital function.
As Lead Business Improvement, you will partner closely with senior Digital leaders to drive performance discipline, leadership effectiveness and functional alignment. You will play a key role in ensuring Digital’s priorities, routines, reporting and strategic initiatives are focused on the areas that matter most.
This role is not just about coordination or reporting - it is about creating clarity, driving accountability, and enabling better decision-making across a complex and fast-moving environment. You will help embed performance routines, strengthen KPI governance, lead cross-functional improvement initiatives and support the Digital Leadership Team to operate with focus, rhythm and impact.
Success in this role requires a leader who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, can influence senior stakeholders, and can translate insight, data and stakeholder input into practical actions that improve performance across the function.
In this role, you will be accountable for:
- Driving functional effectiveness through KPI tracking, performance routines, problem solving and improvement activities that support Digital’s strategic priorities.
- Supporting the effectiveness of the Digital Officer and Digital Leadership Team by enabling prioritisation, leadership rhythm and disciplined execution.
- Managing and improving key operating routines, including Digital’s Management Operating System, leadership routines and performance governance.
- Supporting Board, ELT and senior leadership reporting by ensuring deadlines, quality and narrative clarity are delivered.
- Developing KPI analysis and dashboards that meet stakeholder requirements and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Leading cross-functional initiatives that connect people, process, performance and priorities.
- Integrating across Domains and Performance teams to drive alignment, reduce fragmentation and embed One Digital ways of working.
- Supporting strategic communications and engagement rhythms that align messaging, performance and priorities.
- Coaching and enabling leaders to improve BOS maturity, performance discipline and problem-solving effectiveness.
- Leading a small team to deliver timely, accurate reporting, communications and functional support.
About You
You are a commercially minded and outcomes-focused leader who thrives in complex environments. You bring structure to ambiguity, connect across teams with ease, and are energised by improving how a function operates.
You will bring:
- Experience leading performance systems, business improvement, operating rhythms or KPI governance in a complex organisation
- Strong leadership capability to empower your team to deliver value in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leaders and act as a trusted advisor
- Strong problem-solving capability, with experience leading cross-functional initiatives or transformation activities
- Ability to translate data, insight and stakeholder input into executive-level decision-making
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability across diverse teams
- A disciplined approach to performance, governance, reporting and continuous improvement
- Experience leading, coaching or empowering teams to deliver outcomes through others
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to shape clear narratives for senior audiences
- A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Technology, Project Management or a related discipline. Transformation experience would be highly regarded
You are passionate about creating the conditions for people and teams to perform at their best - bringing together structure, insight and leadership effectiveness to help Digital deliver on its strategy.
