About the Role

 

Marketing Metals Sales team is currently recruiting for a Lead Commercial for to be based in our Singapore office.

This role will be focusing on Copper concentrates and / or Sulphuric Acid portfolios, where your priority is to support the definition and implementation of the commercial strategy of the relevant books, including the delivery of key strategic projects for BHP supply chain.

 

Reporting to Manager Sales, your key deliverable include:
 

  • Overseeing the physical purchase and sales of the commodity(ies) as well as risk management.
  • Be accountable for the implementation of commodity strategic plans and the tactical optimisation of the relevant book.
  • Maximising end-to-end value within prescribed risk, working capital and operational limits, optimising product and supply chain options, and managing unplanned operational changes.
  • Develop existing external relationships with customers and suppliers, and leverage Market Intelligence to help negotiate contracts.
  • Managing a global front office team in charge of the procurement and sales of the relevant commodity(ies)
  • Collaborating with the Metals Sales, Strategy and other internal teams to develop the product sales and placement plans and to leverage the existing relationships already cultivated across the regions.
  • Working closely with our key stakeholders such as Assets, and Maritime to ensure both timely sales and the adequate supply of products.
  • Leading and driving adherence to all relevant external and internal performance standards, including product stewardship.

About You

 

We are seeking for experienced commercial expert with strong analytical and risk management skills. As a successful candidate you will ideally possess the following:
 

  • Deep knowledge and experience in bulk physical commodity markets, preferably in Copper concentrates, or Sulphuric Acid, and financial derivatives
  • Proven track record of contributing to the development of commercial strategy and tactical plans.
  • The ability to think creatively about business structure and to connect opportunities across regions as well as the ability improve efficiency and reduce cost across the full supply chain
  • High degree of commercial acumen, influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to lead change with cross functional stakeholders.
  • The ability to work in a multicultural environment with strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, including coaching and development of team members through the embodiment of BHP culture and values.
