About the Role
We are seeking for a Lead Commissioning opportunity to join the WA Asset Projects Technical team.
Reporting to the Area Lead Manager Commissioning Mines & NPI, the Lead Commissioning role is responsible for leading commissioning planning and execution activities across assigned projects. You will ensure commissioning is fully integrated into project execution plans and optimised to enable safe and efficient start-up and handover. This position also provides leadership to commissioning specialists and contractors to ensure commissioning is delivered safely, effectively and in alignment with WAAP standards and expectations.
This position is based in the Perth office (site travel required) at the award‑winning City Square building. The workspace features modern open‑plan facilities with river views, state‑of‑the‑art technology including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing, and extensive end‑of‑trip amenities such as 550 bicycle racks, lockers, showers, and change rooms.
The role operates on a Monday–Friday roster, with flexible work options available. Ad-hoc site travel will be expected to fulfil these duties.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental and community responsibilities throughout commissioning activities.
- Ensure commissioning strategies for assigned projects align with WAAP requirements.
- Collaborate closely with key project and operational stakeholders to ensure the successful start-up and ramp up of projects.
- Provide commissioning expertise and coordinate commissioning resources for planning and safe execution.
- Apply commissioning standards, processes, methodologies, and systems consistently across projects.
- Provide regular reporting and presentation material to line and project leaders.
- Manage commissioning in line with approved project plans and technical requirements.
- Influence stakeholders respectfully and professionally across Studies, Delivery, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Technology to optimise project outcomes.
- Work closely with other project streams—including Studies, Delivery, Operational Readiness, Engineering and Quality—to leverage synergies and incorporate lessons learned.
About You
- Extensive experience in Commissioning, Project Management, and/or site operations.
- Tertiary Engineering qualifications or relevant trade background.
- Advanced technical proficiency across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Understanding of contracts, procurement practices, and governance frameworks.
- Strong risk awareness and project management capability.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, able to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and build strong working relationships across teams.
