About Potash


The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon.  BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.

Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Purpose


The Lead Data & Digital provides leadership to a team or teams focused on conceptualising, planning, strategically prioritising and implementing data & digital product(s) at Potash; and translate strategy into operational plans for the department. 

About the Role


To be successful in this role, you will:

•    Plan, execute and manage the Data & Digital Portfolio development throughout its lifecycle.   
•    Lead teams who are responsible for BHP Potash data/metadata in alignment with BHPs standards and requirements for data quality management, integrity and governance. 
•    Lead teams who are responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of BHP data and ensure compliance with data security, privacy and legal requirements. 
•    Coache & support definition of the conception, development and implementation of data & digital products.
•    Drive business improvement through the measurement of BHP's performance.   
•    Support the management of vendor/customer selection, contracts, and performance to maximise operational and financial outcomes and mitigate BHP's exposure to risk. 
•    Identify, engage and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders. 
•    Prioritise work effort and resources accordingly.   
•    Conduct presentations and facilitate workshops using storytelling to connect, influence and engage the audience.   
•    Define value drivers and determine the boundaries of an opportunity to determine if it is worth further investment.
•    Source information, plan and conduct analyses to support evidence-based and data driven decision making. 
•    Develop and communicate insights that guide data driven action and decision making.   
•    Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluate multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.   

Work Location


This position will be based in Saskatoon with regular visits to the Jansen mine site. The associated work schedule will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance.

About You


To be considered, you will need:

•    Experience leading data & digital product portfolios delivery teams. 
•    Experience delivering and maintaining data & digital product portfolios within BHP or other mining companies.  
•    Deep understanding of the requirements to effectively manage the end-to-end lifecycle of data & digital products. 
•    Deep understanding of data architecture and engineering, ideally at BHP or other mining companies. 
•    Experience in the implementation of digital strategies.  
•    Experience leading teams that work with agile & waterfall project management methodologies. 
•    Experience with technology service management frameworks.   
•    Experience in contract management of Technical Partners. 
•    Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) across relevant stakeholders, providing quick and accurate responses to all queries and support as required.


Other competencies that will be highly valuable are:

•    Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Business or Similar. 
•    Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) Certification.
•    Understanding of Data Architecture, Pipelines and Engineering.
•    Digital Strategy Implementation.
