About the Role
We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a Lead Data Domain Architect to lead the design of the data and analytics landscape across BHP’s Assets and Functions, contributing to the rollout of our data and cloud strategies. Location -There is flexibility to be based at the BHP Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane office.
You will be working Monday – Friday and we offer flexible work arrangements.
The purpose of the Lead Data Domain Architect is to act as a senior design authority in the data and analytics space. This senior leadership role develops the future capability roadmaps for data; evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies and tools to meet the evolving needs of the business, support strategic initiatives, and align with industry best practices. They are also responsible for setting the direction and maintaining a complete and performant set of data guardrails to accelerate digital teams and citizen developers.
Key accountabilities of this role include:
- Developing future roadmaps for BHP’s data analytics landscape, to translate the Data and Cloud strategies into reality
- Providing expertise to guide solution design for architects & data professionals, covering technical domains such as AI, application integration, data platforms, data engineering, data visualisation, data management and advanced analytics.
- Acting as a trusted advisor & thought leader for senior leadership within Technology and across the broader company
- Coach and advise teams on building solutions to meet BHP’s obligations in relation to data security, data privacy and data lifecycle management
- Direct various data teams to maintain a complete and performant set of data guardrails that evolve with business needs.
- Evangelise and embed routine and practices to ensure all architectural deliverables align to strategic objectives; are produced to a high quality; and are consistent with existing standards, policies, and strategies.
About You
- You have a deep understanding of data architecture principles and best practices and experience defining and executing a data architecture strategy
- You have deep experience in data analytics, machine learning/AI, data engineering, application integration and data platform design and development
- You have demonstrable expertise in architecting solution for data security, data privacy and data life cycle management
- Knowledge of a range of data technologies and tools used for data and analytics capabilities including cloud-based data solutions
- You can understand and communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of the organisation and build and maintain trusted relationships
- Strong leadership skills and experience leading/mentoring architects and/or data professionals
- Ability to solve complex problems and gain consensus across a variety of stakeholders from architecture, Technology delivery and business
- Exposure to or recent qualification in rolling out AI initiatives highly regarded
- Understanding of architecture modelling (Archimate) and architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).
- Formal qualifications in Computer Science, Mathematics, Technology, Engineering, or similar discipline highly regarded.
