About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability, the Lead Electrical Engineer provides electrical engineering leadership and technical expertise to the Prominent Hill Asset. You will act as a mentor and influential people leader to the wider engineering group for the electrical discipline as well as lead the Reliability Electrical Engineering team.
This role is Permanent and based at our Prominent Hill Mine site on a FIFO basis ex Adelaide or Port Augusta. The roster supported is 5 days on/2 days off, 4 days on/3 days off.
In this role you will:
- Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team in achieving continuous safety improvement.
- Provide technical leadership for the Prominent Hill asset.
- Support the ongoing asset integrity program at the operation through remediation plan development and identification of improvement initiatives.
- Prioritise, review and manage the effective delivery of Engineering Request Notifications & other technical engineering activities for your electrical engineering team.
- Provide technical guidance to support third parties to align with BHP engineering standards.
- Drive ongoing improvement of the operation through identification and implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Support and facilitate electrical engineering activities across operations to ensure consistent fit for purpose engineering standards are applied and our Management of Change process is adhered to.
- Maintain and provide expertise for asset integrity management systems;
- Lead and coach individuals and teams.
- Control and maintain the blueprint (e.g. standards, specifications, procedures and drawings)
- Review and approve electrical engineering requests to support our Management of Change process
- Provide technical advice to safety incident and root cause analysis investigations
- Assist with the development of budget and capital planning
- Review consultant electrical engineering work against the appropriate standards and auditing technical changes on site for compliance
About You
As part of the Maintenance Reliability team within BHP Copper SA, the following attributes will be key to your success:
- Degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Reliability or similar.
- Qualifications in Thermography highly regarded
- Experience and exposure to RCM, RCA, thermography, NDT and Asset Strategy development
- Experience and understanding of E-Tap modelling
- Experince and understanding of industrial High Voltage systems
- Understanding of ISO 55000 suite
- Well-developed communication skills with an interest in providing technical leadership, stewardship, support and solutions.
- A proven track record of safety leadership;
- Experience managing engineering consultants to deliver positive results in safety, quality assurance/control, culture and productivity;
- Demonstrated capabilities in effectively engaging with various levels and across Operations and Functions.
- Experience with asset integrity systems.
