About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Lead Environment professional to join our team at Broadmeadow Mine.

This pivotal role is responsible for leading the onsite Environment team and driving environmental performance, compliance, and risk management across the operation.

This role can be offered on a 5:2 residential roster, or a 4:3 roster from Brisbane travel provided. Flexible work options will be considered.

Reporting directly to the Site Superintendent Environment Operations, you will be required to:

•    Work in partnership with line leadership to employ effective controls to manage environmental risks;
•    Provide leadership to the onsite Environment team, comprising an Environment Specialist;
•    In partnership with line leadership, develop and manage the team’s work program to ensure delivery of key environmental outcomes;
•    Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant regulators and key site and function Superintendents to execute tactical environmental initiatives that support compliance and risk mitigation;
•    Assist with the supervision of environmental contractors onsite;
•    Conduct meaningful field leadership activities to verify the effectiveness of environmental controls and provide technical guidance;
•    Implement and provide governance of the Environment Management System;
•    Maintain strong relationships with site and asset stakeholders to ensure alignment of environmental outputs with broader business goals.

About You

You will hold tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering, supported by hands-on experience in the resources industry. Your background will include working on-site and navigating environmental legislative requirements, with a proactive mindset and a commitment to continuous learning and skill development.

You thrive both independently and within a team environment. A keen eye for detail, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to build influential, consultative relationships with diverse stakeholders will be key to your success.

At BHP, we place a strong emphasis on values-driven individuals with leadership potential and excellent communication skills. Your interpersonal strengths will foster collaboration, while your analytical capabilities will support critical thinking and a solutions-oriented approach.

We offer access to cutting-edge technology that supports flexible working arrangements—an essential part of BHP’s commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse and dynamic workforce.

We know there are many aspects of our employees’ lives that are important, and work is only one of these, so we offer benefits to enable your work to fit with your life. These benefits include flexible working options, a generous paid parental leave policy, other extended leave entitlements and parent rooms.
