About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced geological leader ready to step into a newly created senior, high impact role—one that builds the bridge to Superintendent accountability. As our Lead Mine Geologist, you’ll guide a team of Mine Geologists in delivering safe performance, high quality geological interpretation and operational value, every day.

This is a chance to influence our understanding of one of the worlds truly great complex orebodies, improve operational outcomes, and grow the next generation of technical talent at Olympic Dam.

 

Location: Olympic Dam Mine 

Roster: 8 days on 6 days off FIFO ex Adelaide and residential

 

As a senior leader in Mine Geology, you will:

 

  • Lead and coach a diverse team experienced Mine Geologists, building capability through feedback, mentoring and technical guidance.
  • Set and uphold high standards in data quality, logging, mapping, drilling optimisation and reconciliation.
  • Drive geological thinking to shape strategic decisions that reduces risk, improves ore definition, and maximises value.
  • Build strong relationships with operational, technical and external stakeholders to deliver on shared outcomes.
  • Champion continuous improvement, structured problem solving and safe, efficient work practices.
  • Align resources and priorities to deliver what matters: 100% safety, 100% customer value, 0% waste.

 

This is a role for someone who leads with curiosity, clarity, integrity and accountability—and who wants to play a bigger part in shaping the strategic direction of Mine Geology at Olympic Dam.

About You

You’ll bring:

 

  • Significant mine geology experience (including underground), demonstrating strong production geology capability across logging, mapping, drilling, stoping and grade control.
  • Experience leading people or a demonstrated passion for developing others.
  • Strong technical judgement, problem solving capability and an inclusive leadership style.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience or Earth Sciences.
  • Confidence in collaborating with stakeholders and supporting decision making across operational teams.
