About the Site
Goonyella Riverside Mine is an open pit coal mine located near Moranbah on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people. It possesses the largest autonomous fleet on any coal mine site in the world and is also BHP’s biggest metallurgical coal mine in Queensland's Bowen Basin.
About the Role
Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, you will be responsible for developing pit strategies within the 5 year plan and beyond, producing reserves to support the 1-10 year scheduling model, identifying and analysing improvement opportunities, elevating and standardising the design processes, and mentoring junior design engineers in the broader Mine Planning Team. The role is critical in guiding the success of one of the largest operations in Australia.
This is role is offered on flexible work patterns depending on work location with FIFO/DIDO or residential living arrangements also available. Work-life balance is an important element in the Goonyella Planning team, which focuses on work complete rather than hours worked. About You
As the successful candidate, you will preferably have a tertiary education background in Mining Engineering (or similar) with a minimum 8+ years experience working in open cut mining operations within mine planning teams.
As well as your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will have demonstrated ability to build relationships across departments and able to communicate at all levels. A strong working knowledge of design tools (Deswik/Vulcan), Microsoft Office, with experience in scheduling software packages such as SPRY and XACT also desirable.
You will be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and providing excellent results.
