About the Role
The Copper South Australia Major Project portfolio includes a portfolio of projects at varying stages of maturity. From greenfield development to brownfield upgrades, these projects will significantly increase the production from our key South Australian Assets. The Operational Readiness Team will be instrumental in safely delivering Operational specific requirements for each project. This will include collaboration with both Project Functions and Operational Teams, participation in project reviews and risk assessments and development of project Operational Readiness Plans and deliverables, as well as aiding in handover.
As a Lead Operational Readiness with Copper South Australia Major Projects, you will be responsible for driving the successful transition of projects into operations. You’ll define and deliver critical readiness activities, lead a multidisciplinary OR team, and bring together functional and project stakeholders to ensure our new assets are integrated safely, efficiently and ready to perform from day one.
You will be accountable for:
- Development of key operational readiness deliverables including Operations Management Plans (OMPs), Operational Readiness Plans (ORPs) and Ramp- Up Plans (RUPs) based on Valid User Requirements (VURs), project business case, and Key Value Drivers (KVDs).
- Provision of support to your nominated project including input into project execution plans, study work plans, hand over plans and end of phase chapter preparation
- Conducting operational impact assessment using the OR Scopebook
- Application of the OR Framework adopting and using the relevant processes and templates.
- Development and costing of operational readiness schedules for both study and execution phases, evaluation of systems/procedures for compliance with standards and definition of training/handover requirements to efficiently prepare the asset for operations.
- Value Optimisation activities to improve the Operational Readiness sub-function.
- Facilitating engagement with site stakeholders to obtain input into project work and to provide relevant updates to site people to keep them informed of outcomes.
- Coordinating the various OR contributions of other BHP functions to support project implementation and success.
- Engagement with project contracting partners to coordinate OR activities across multiple stakeholders based on where the designed capability sits and considering critical dependencies.
- Compliance with all local legislation and regulations, Group Level Documents and local asset procedures including safety, health, environment and community.
- Cost management through development of the budget and monthly cost tracking activities.
About You
- Significant experience in senior mining or maintenance operational roles
- Solid experience in project management roles
- Broad understanding of Operational Readiness frameworks, processes, and systems
- Understanding of risk identification and management
- Detailed knowledge of BOS processes and routines will be advantageous
- Proficiency in resource planning & scheduling
- Solid interpersonal skills to interact and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, regulators and community stakeholders.
- Tertiary qualification in engineering, business management or an aligned discipline, or working to such
- Project Management qualifications will be an added benefit
Location and Roster
You will be Adelaide based, Monday to Friday, with frequent site visits to ensure stakeholder engagement and alignment. During the study phase of projects, the travel requirements are less, however during execution and handover, it is likely that you will attend site on a regular roster to manage deliverables, liaise with stakeholders and assist with handover as required.
