About the Role
We are seeking an individual with deep technical experience across a range of commodities and the mining value chain to serve as a key member of BHP’s Asset Business Development (ABD) team. This is an exciting opportunity to combine a technically focussed operating background with a commercial mindset in a unique role, as the ABD team strives to increase BHP’s exposure to future facing commodities via value accretive opportunities. An individual in this role will participate in the technical aspects of all global ABD opportunities and contribute where their skills can be leveraged.
In this role, you will:
- Uphold BHPs values: Do what is right; seek better ways and make difference
- Translate technical uncertainty into key value drivers and use extensive experience to identify critical technical risks and upsides for transactions or ABD projects
- Participate in the technical evaluation of ABD opportunities, including coordinating due diligence processes.
- Help develop other ABD team members technical awareness and capability
- Optimise risk and reward to maximise value and deliver the best outcome for the organisation
- Engage internal and external teams to efficiently and effectively assess targeted projects on short timelines in competitive situations
- Serve as a key point of contact between cross functional and technical teams – facilitating the flow of information and sharing of best practices within BHP and across industry
- Leverage established networks for business intelligence and due diligence
- Develop strong relationships built on experience and trust with senior executives
- Develop and clearly articulate complex technical issues and business cases to stakeholders
- Support the development of position papers, Board papers, CEO and other ELT briefing materials
- Travel regionally and globally, as required
About You

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent with a mining or other geoscience specialization

Advanced degree in commercial or business related field highly regarded

Extensive experience in spanning mining consultancy, projects or operations, with exposure to commercial roles

Spanish language skills highly preferred
