About the Role
Group Treasury holds the Group-wide mandate to maintain a strong balance sheet and manage all financial market exposures. We are currently seeking a Lead Principal in Corporate Finance, reporting to the Vice President Corporate Finance. The role supports the leadership of the Melbourne and London based Corporate Finance team with broad exposure across BHP’s corporate functions and portfolio of high-quality assets. We are looking for a commercial leader who will provide deep technical expertise and experience and take on the following accountabilities:
- Represent Treasury in the London office and as a key business partner to group function, business and asset representatives (in particular London and Americas based group functions).
- Prepare Board and Committee papers containing strategic recommendations and analysis relating to the Group’s long-term funding, liquidity requirements, dividend policy and capital structure.
- Lead cross-border and cross-functional project teams to deliver Corporate Finance activities including internal frameworks, intragroup funding / investing, capital structures and Debt Capital Market / Equity Capital Market monitoring and execution.
- Provide Group Treasury advice for Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestments (including structuring, due diligence and funding) and lead Treasury reviews for major capital investments before investment tollgates.
- Manage relationships with panel banks, credit rating agencies and debt investors.
- Manage Treasury material risks and ensure compliance with controls and policies.
- Promote a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Lead / champion key Treasury-wide change initiatives and the adoption of Group or Finance strategies such as BOS, Sustainability, Inclusion & Diversity, Development etc.
- Participate in regular regional and Treasury Leadership activities, coach and develop other team members.
About You
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Finance or relevant field required with post graduate qualifications in Finance, Treasury or similar preferred.
- CFA or Master in Finance would be an advantage.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience with a track record of commercial execution in international corporate treasury, corporate finance, consulting or banking.
- Business modelling and evaluation experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing strategy recommendations for Executive or Board submission and presentations to senior management.
- Advanced Excel modelling skills, high level MS Word and PowerPoint skills.
