About the Role

This Investment Office role will support the Minerals Americas business by ensuring high quality for its major investment requests, while supporting pipeline management and governance at a regional level. It needs to work closely and collaboratively with the various project development teams across the business to produce proper framing, clear storytelling, and polished technical writing to enable senior stakeholder decision making. This role also needs to uplift and drive improvement in the business’ technical writing skills by coaching and demonstrating best practice for the teams.  

By monitoring the progress of the projects and providing clear advice to the teams, this role will assist them to successfully navigate and comply with BHP’s Investment Management Governance, while supporting the management of capital costs.

Main Accountabilities:

·       Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews over all key investment management documents before they go to senior stakeholders. The goal is to maintain a similarly high level of document quality across all our submissions.

·       Maintain routines with these stakeholders so that authors are properly scheduling their documents and approvers have a clear understanding of the pipeline of investments coming to them for approval.

·       Assist the Regional Investment Review Committee (IRC) secretary with the preparation and administration of meetings, as required. 

·       Lead the execution of region-wide priority projects as required, including ad-hoc support for improvement initiatives or project analysis.  

·       Confidently present ideas, recommendations and influence internal stakeholders. 

·       Keep up to date with the latest trends and best practices in written communications, using this to coach the authors and uplift writing skills.

·       Liaise with key stakeholders and provide assistance with queries and requests as required.

 

This is a high-exposure position involving a large number of major copper projects.

 

About You

 

 

To be a top performer you will need:  

 

•    Degree qualification in Business/Finance, Law or Engineering. 
•    Minimum of 5+ years experience working with a large corporate or professional environment, with exposure to writing complex documents.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, stakeholder engagement and ability to work autonomously and collaboratively and deliver as needed.
•    Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to edit, critique and develop investment management papers suitable for the BHP Board or Executive suite (all English language). 
•    Ability to think creatively, problem solve on complex issues, work effectively with senior stakeholders and operate under pressure.
•    Strong analytical capacity, understanding complex business processes, identifying improvement opportunities and recommending solution options 
•    Structured with strong attention to detail, connecting the dots and spot inconsistencies. Able to communicate complex matters in a simple way. 
•    Proactive, ability to self-motivate and succeed in an agile, rapidly changing environment.
•    Knowledge of project management, investment evaluation, project governance &/or business planning processes highly desirable. Specific engineering and/or Finance knowledge applicable to mining/construction projects not required but is advantageous.
•    Native-level English, both verbal and written.
