About the Role
The Lead Delivery must be capable of defining and driving integrated project objectives across multiple complex initiatives. This includes developing and governing project execution plans, managing change control, and ensuring seamless phase transitions. Success requires the ability to align project outcomes with organisational goals, unlock value early in the planning process, and continuously improve delivery practices.
This role will be 5/2 Monday - Friday based at Olympic Dam (Residential to Roxby) or 5/2 4/3 FIFO or DIDO with a minimum 3 days per week on Site. Point of Hire will be Adelaide if FIFO.
Role Accountabilities:
- Develops integrated project deliverables and integrates project work across projects through interfacing with stakeholders and managing the successful transition of project/phase closure.
- Develops and implements project turnover processes and executes commissioning/handover activities to facilitate the successful commissioning of equipment/projects across BHP.
- Monitors HSE compliance and applies appropriate methodologies/standards to deliver effective construction projects across BHP.
- Defines project objectives/schedules, identifies critical activities, monitors the project plan/schedule and drives continuous improvement initiatives across projects at BHP.
- Monitors and manages project performance to deliver projects in line with safety standards, requirements, budget and scope.
- Manages contract execution and analysis to maximise operational and financial performance and mitigate exposure and risk.
- Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
- Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation.

About You
- Construction Expertise. A deep understanding of construction methodologies in an Owner-Lead environment is essential. The role demands the ability to lead HSE-compliant teams, apply best practice standards, and oversee the successful handover of commissioned assets.
- Planning, Scheduling, and Performance Management. The role requires project planning and scheduling, including identifying critical activities, mitigating risks, and optimising resource allocation. The Lead Delivery must govern performance controls, monitor deviations, and implement corrective actions to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to scope.
- Contract and Risk Management. Success in this role depends on the ability to manage high-risk and complex contracts and ensure contractor performance aligns with strategic objectives. The Lead Delivery must apply BHP’s risk frameworks to identify threats and opportunities, make informed decisions, and foster a culture of risk awareness and proactive mitigation.
- People Leadership and Team Empowerment. The Lead Delivery must build and lead high-performing teams by fostering inclusion, providing coaching and feedback, and promoting psychological safety. The role requires self-awareness and the ability to develop others through mentoring and capability building, ensuring the team is aligned, engaged, and accountable.
- Operational Excellence and Innovation. The role demands a mindset of continuous improvement, disciplined execution, and creative problem-solving. The Lead Delivery must embed processes that identify and eliminate waste, challenge existing practices, and empower teams to innovate while balancing risk and opportunity.
- Customer-Centric Delivery. Understanding and responding to customer needs is central to success. The Lead Delivery must establish clear direction, align team activities with customer expectations, and build strong stakeholder relationships. This includes setting ambitious goals and adapting plans to deliver maximum value.
