About the Role
This role is accountable to prepare the accounting and reporting for Treasury entities, hedge accounting for BHP's debt portfolio, budgeting and forecasting for Group net interest income and expense, liaising with Group Reporting / Group FP&A / Group Treasury / External Auditors on Treasury Accounting and Reporting queries, as well as oversee the Group Share Awards end to end accounting and calculation model.
- Undertake performance and development reviews in line with BHP people systems.
- Identify, build and develop team capability through ongoing and regular coaching and development.
- Collaborate with Group Reporting and Treasury team on Month End financial reporting of bonds, derivatives/swaps, and hedge accounting.
- Prepare monthly Group level debt and cash reports, Group interest income and interest report, Group forecast for net interest income and expense, and investigate variances. The reports will be used by Group Financial Officer and Group Treasurer for strategic planning.
- Review external briefing papers, RAC papers, Stewardship Review, and monthly submissions to Group Reporting.
- Provide guidance and sharing on IFRS 9 Financial Instruments and IFRS 2 Share-Based Payments.
- Responsibility for ensuring that the accounting treatment for share awards follow standards and policies set by Policy with respect to IFRS 2 Share-Based Payment;
- Timely modelling of Share Awards budgets and true-ups, including coordination of reviews with Head of Finance and communication of costs to the Regions/Assets Reporting Managers.
- Perform and assess relevant internal controls, including SOX, and stewardship review activities to ensure a robust and dynamic control environment
- Provide required inputs to Group Reporting Melbourne for budget and forecast purposes
- Review the single entity statutory account, tax returns and other compliance processes for Treasury entities and Share Awards Trusts’.
- Liaise with and provide information to various stakeholders (internal and external) such as Group Policy, Group Reporting, Group Treasury, Group Tax, Group Rewards, and External Auditors.
- Attend monthly Global Treasury and Group FP&A call / agenda for key stakeholders (London, KL & Melbourne) to jointly anticipate and resolve issues
About You
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Professional qualification (CPA/ACCA/CIMA/CA)
Experience & Technical Competencies
- Experience with a Treasury Management System (TMS such as SAP TRM, REVAL, Bloomberg etc.) highly desirable
- Sound knowledge of IFRS 9 and IFRS 2
- Sound knowledge of Finance Modules in SAP
- Demonstrate strong business acumen, accounting processes knowledge, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines effectively
- Strong financial modelling skills
- Understanding of Front Office treasury products and strategy beneficial
- Experience working with both management and statutory reporting hierarchies
- Ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders and functional teams to deliver value
- Creates a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and delivery of value add results
- Enthusiastic, confident self-starter, with the ability to motivate and work autonomously
- Attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines and problem solve
- Strong business awareness, commercial mind-set and risk awareness skills
