About the Role
Our Minerals Australia Projects (MAP) team is dedicated to creating and maximizing value for BHP’s assets through the development and safe delivery of capital projects. To support the successful execution of our diverse project portfolio, we are seeking multiple Lead and Principal Project Delivery professionals. These roles will blend specialized project delivery expertise with strong leadership capabilities, ensuring that our projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time.
In these positions, you will be part of a collaborative environment where you will work alongside experts across various disciplines, including engineering, procurement, and construction management. Your focus will be on fostering a safe and engaging workplace while applying best practices in project management methodologies. You will leverage advanced project scheduling tools and performance metrics to monitor progress and drive continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
In this position, you will make an impact by:
• Ensuring the successful management of assigned project scopes in alignment with safety standards, quality requirements, budget constraints, and overall project objectives.
• Championing health, safety, environmental, and community responsibilities within your project team.
• Overseeing performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Ensuring compliance with BHP’s Contractor Management requirements while optimizing contractor performance for successful project outcomes.
• Utilizing BHP’s risk management framework to foster a culture of risk awareness that supports safe and productive performance.
• Driving the implementation of effective project delivery strategies and methodologies that enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Leading your project team by fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
About You
Our Project Delivery professionals come from diverse backgrounds in project execution. You may currently be in a similar role or have experience in construction or operational project delivery across various industries. Your leadership skills will be essential in fostering a supportive culture of safety and continuous improvement within your team. In this role, you will ensure the successful management of project scopes by aligning with safety standards and quality requirements while building strong relationships with stakeholders to achieve project goals.
We welcome candidates with a degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, along with proven experience in managing large-scale projects, ideally within the mining, resources, or construction sectors. A solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to project execution is important. Your ability to lead cross-functional teams while promoting collaboration and inclusivity will be vital to your success in this role.
You will also:
• Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Exhibit a strong desire to collaborate within a flexible work environment that encourages professional growth.
• Be passionate about challenging the status quo while driving process improvement initiatives.
• Show a proactive attitude towards safety and be an enthusiastic team player.
• Certifications such as NEBOSH or equivalent are a plus
• Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that facilitate effective collaboration.
• Have proven success in project execution with a strong focus on safety.
Location
We have a variety of roster options across different locations, including FIFO, DIDO, and residential arrangements. Whether you prefer an office-based role, fly in from Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth, drive in from nearby towns like Mackay or Emerald, or settle in residential areas such as Roxby Downs or Moranbah, we have several roles with different options available.
