About the location 

 

Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) is an integrated system of four processing hubs and five mines connected by more than 1,000 kilometres of rail infrastructure and port facilities in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia.   Multiple sites available including Perth, FIFO and Residential working 5/2/4/3 & 5/2 rosters.

 

About the Role 

 

Reporting to the BOS Lead, this position is accountable for implementation of BHP Operating System (BOS) and delivery of continuous improvement initiatives for the site by effectively influencing and collaborating across departments and workstreams.

Key Accountabilities 

 

  • Enable a healthy and performing improvement engine at all levels within the operation, whilst focusing coaching activities at Frontline to Superintendent level (L1-L3)
  • Assist site leaders with the identification, prioritisation, problem solving and implementation of frontline improvement.
  • Assist site leaders with prioritised Kaizen / site breakthrough initiatives at L3 (departmental level).
  • Assist site leadership in the monitoring of BOS capability and local training required to maintain and continuously build BOS capability in all areas across the site.
  • Build the operational site teams’ ability to problem solve and continually improve their work off a base of Standardised Work, replicating and sharing best practice within high impact repetitive maintenance activities and making frontline work safer, easier, better.
  • Enables growth and utilisation of Standardised Work (SW) within their operation. Inclusive of creating new & updating existing SW.
  • Enables the core systems associated with the ‘improvement engine’ at site. Assisting operational teams access, use, and manage information in CoreWork, BrightSpot, MyBOS, SW Field App, SW Builder App, WAVE and KaiNexus.
  • Identifies, engages, and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Identifies, implements, and evaluates the success of continuous improvement activities/initiatives to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of BHP systems and processes. 
  • Conducts presentations and facilitates workshops using storytelling to connect, influence and engage the audience.
  • Prioritises work effort and resources accordingly. 
  • Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation. 
  • Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste. 
  • Knows our customer and is obsessed with meeting their needs.

 

About You 

 

  • You have prior experience as a Leader or Technical Professional 
  • Exposure to mining, maintenance or processing is ideal but experience in other industries that utilise an operating system founded on lean principles would be highly regarded (e.g. manufacturing, health, finance, logistics, etc.) 
  • You will have an understanding/exposure to continuous improvement methodologies and organisational change. 
  • You will be able to establish credibility as a trusted advisor and through your strong improvement, leadership, coaching and communication skills. 
  • You will be comfortable with ambiguity, complexity and delivering outcomes in a matrix environment using your collaboration, engagement, influence, and coaching skills.
